Creative Accordion 2 full day (Sunday 18th May 2014)

Tutors : Karen Tweed (Piano Accordion using Stradella bass system) and Karen Street (Piano Accordion using Stradella and Freebass systems)

10.30am Registration and Welcome

10.45am – 11.45am :

Session 1 – Karen Street : Presentation / demo of Karen’s accordion and saxophone playing career, composing and musical interests. This will include time for questions.

11.45am – 12 noon: Coffee / tea

12 noon – 1.15pm :

Session 2 – Karen Street : Teaching session (higher level) – swing / jazz – how to introduce it into your style; tips and techniques; repertoire.

Session 2 – Karen Tweed : Teaching session – (lower level) English folk music – lyrical or percussive – from traditional to newly composed; tips and technique; repertoire.

1.15pm – 2.15 pm : Lunch

2.15 pm  – 3.30pm :

Session 3 – Karen Street : Teaching session – (less able) swing / jazz – how to introduce it into your style; tips and techniques; repertoire.

Session 3 – Karen Tweed : Teaching session – (higher) English folk music – lyrical or percussive – from traditional to newly composed; tips and technique; repertoire.

3.30pm – 3.45pm : Coffee / tea

3.45pm – 4.40pm : 

Session 4 – Karen Street & Karen Tweed : Presentation / demo of our accordion collaborative ideas, composing and musical interests. Why we inspire the other. This will include time for questions.

4.40pm – 5pm : recap and play together pieces from the day.

***Do bring a music stand, an accordion if you have one, a notebook,pencil / pen and recording device.
